A few words from the bride, Vivian:

We met through work, Kyle hired me at TD Bank after I had relocated with the company from another province.  It wasn’t until I was single, and had moved to another part of the company that Kyle asked me out.  After less than one year of dating, Kyle was offered a position with TD on the other side of the country.  We had to make some big decisions about our careers and our relationship, which we both were not ready to do quite yet.  But we took a chance.  We moved away from all our family and friends, from BC to New Brunswick.  It was such a big test for us.  We were living together for the first time, starting our lives over, and starting new jobs.  It was a challenging time for us, but we really developed our relationship.  We have created our own unique life together, leaning on each other and having so much fun!

The thought of planning a wedding was overwhelming for us.  We had recently moved across the country, away from family and friends.  We had a tough time deciding where to get married because at least half our guests would have to travel far should we decided to get married near one of our families.  So we decided to make everyone travel for a destination wedding and a week vacation in Jamaica.

We wanted a stress-free, simple, easy wedding day.  We had a wedding planner at the resort who took care of everything for us.  This also allowed our family and friends to enjoy the day.  One of the most important things for us during the ceremony was that everyone was present in the moment with us, being a part of the ceremony, especially since we had a small ceremony.  So we had an “unplugged” wedding.  We had Justine Milton there to photograph every moment, so no one had to worry about taking their own photos.

The Riu Montego Bay resort in Jamaica offered such a beautiful backdrop for our wedding.  We kept decorations to a minimum to allow the natural beauty of the beach and the resort to be accentuated.  We chose to be married at the gazebo on the beach to have the gorgeous ocean in the background.  Having Justine Milton photograph our wedding day was also essential to capturing the natural beauty of our surroundings.

We chose to write our own vows, together.  This really gave us a very special intimate moment during the ceremony.  We wouldn’t be meeting the minister until we walked down the aisle, nor did we know what he would be saying.  It was important that we included something unique and personal for our vows.  It was so special to work on the vows together, to talk about what was important in our relationship and what we wanted to share with our family and friends.

The best part of the wedding was actually the wedding week, being able to spend so much quality time with our family and friends.  We don’t live close to any of our family and friends, and we hadn’t seen some of them in over a year.  It was also the first time our two families were meeting and connecting.  It was wonderful to see the families bonding and spending time together.  This never would have happened if we hadn’t had a destination wedding.
