Florence

A few words from Brittany about our time in Florence:
Florence was one of our last stops on our Europe trip. Although we were only there for a day, I’m so glad we got to experience a truly one-of-a-kind place! Unsurprisingly we left Cody at a museum by himself while we explored the streets and took photos. That man can spend a LONG time in a museum! We went to many different museums during our travels and while I do enjoy them, a girl can only take so much! Meanwhile, Justine and I were on a mission to find the most photogenic gelato in Florence. I will count this a major success judging by the photo above! This was probably Justine’s third gelato of the day…the girl loves ice cream. The wonderful thing about travelling with Cody and Alan is that it allowed us to take photos together for once! I’m not going to try to play it cool here, we carried our heels in our backpacks just for these photos. I don’t regret it for a second. The most amazing part of our day trip was climbing the tower of the Palazzo Vecchio, which is Florence’s city hall. Here we were able to see an incredible view of the city’s skyline! While every other tourist was at the cathedral, we practically had the place to ourselves. It was the most incredible view to take in and one that I won’t forget anytime soon.

Life Set Sail On FINDING MOTIVATION IN AN INSTANT WORLD

From Brittany of Life Set Sail:
I’m not gonna lie, in an instant world where everyone wants a quick glimpse of something they can double tap on their phone, it’s kind of hard to stay motivated in putting together entire blog posts that people probably aren’t going to take the time to visit. That being said, I find that I am brought back to the whole reason I even started Life, Set Sail…for myself. If you ever wanted to start a blog, you’ve got to make sure you’re doing it for you first…I cannot stress this enough. Almost every photo on LSS is taken by a professional photographer. We travel, shoot from sunset to sunrise, send off film to get developed, wait around for it, make simple edits, put together a layout and THEN I still have to think of something clever or insightful to write about! And I’m not even going to get into the whole business side of things (pitching companies, negotiating rates etc.) It’s no picnic…but things are done this way because both my photographer and I are passionate about what we do and we want to make it as beautiful as possible! I love instagram as much as the next person, but I really hope that people will start looking for more than just a pretty image…I know I’m getting tired of it. More and more I want to seek out real blogs and be able to read something with actual substance.

Life Set Sail & Show Me Your Mumu

Scans By: Photovision Prints | Two Piece Set: Show Me Your Mumu from: Adorn Boutique Bracelet: Coutukitsch | Sneakers: Vans | Blogger: Life Set Sail

A few words from Brittany: Ever since I bought my first Show Me Your Mumu piece (yes this is the name of a brand), I’ve been obsessed…and I think it’s safe to say everyone else has too! Whenever I wear this romper I always get compliments on it, and why not? It’s so much fun!

Let’s be honest, it’s basically my life goal to end up living somewhere that I can get away with not wearing pants. If I could just frolic about in stylish two piece sets I totally would. The thing I love about these types of outfits is that you don’t have to worry about any sort of pairings, just toss on a couple simple pieces of jewellery, some sneakers and your good to go!
